Hi guys I'm looking for some help as we are totally new to chickens and our flock have suddenly stopped laying this week.
We got 4 ex-bats on Easter Sunday (5.5 weeks ago) and they all laid every day since we've had them. We lost 1 of these girls 2 weeks ago but don't know why (she wasn't right for a few days then took a turn for the worse so we decided to do the kindest thing and out her down). Don't know why she was ill though.
Then, the same weekend, we got 6 new girls, 3 speckled Marans and 3 leghorns.
After a few scraps initially all 9 hens soon settled down within a day or 2 and all were laying well (I was gathering between 5 and 8 eggs every day for a week!).
Then suddenly this week (1 week after losing 1 and adding 6) we're down to only 1 egg per day, and they're from a leghorn.
All 9 were laying last week so I have honestly no idea what's happened, anyone got any advice or tips please? I'm not overly worried because the chicks all seem happy and well (and getting bolder and more mischievous by the day!!).
Thanks in advance for any help
