Hi,
I have a chick that hatched this morning around 9am. It was one that pipped two days ago out of the wrong end of it's egg.
It is laying on its stomach with it's left leg under it and it's right leg is laying next to it's body, and bent at the knee so its foot is lying behind it.
It is trying to get up, but has only succeded in getting it's leg under it once that I saw, and then it falls over and the leg goes back the way it was. I saw how the toes can be
taped into place, can you do that to a leg or is it possibly something congenital? Anybody have any thoughts or experience with this?
Also, the incubator temp is fluctuating from 92-102, my 6 year old fiddled with the wing nut on the regulator and they cant get it to stabalize. They added more hot water to it this
morning too. Then I went over and they took out the three older chicks around 10:45, they were trampling the new ones. It is really humid in the incubator, they haven't dried at
all yet, I wonder if it would be better to just take them out now and get them into my brooder? Any thoughts?
