Chicks look the same! How do I tell them apart!?

My hen has been wearing her zip ties for nearly two years now and they've not tightened a lick.

if you cut the excess tail of the zip tie off as close as possible to the part it goes through, they are nearly impossible to accidently tighten.

Just make the loop big enough not to fall off their foot while they are still growing, make SURE to check the tightness at regular intervals, and remember to cut them off while you can still get a pair of small scissors between the leg and the tie. You don't want to be trying to cut them off without a little bit of slack.

Once the chick is full grown, you can put a larger, permanent tie on, if you want. Many people color code their chickens!

One year is all one color, or color by hatch or by parents or by whatever system you want.

I use the zip ties.Our local Harbor Freight has varieties of colors and sizes with all kinds of wild colors.I use them for EVERYTHING...lol. Look closely at any pic and your likely to see them wearing one(or more) for ID.

Hey guys. I was looking threw old post's on here and I came across one about leg bands for your chickens. And one person suggested to use velcro strips. I just picked up some different colored ones at the craft store. I will post a few pictures when I put them on my chicks. Thanks for all the great advice. You guys are great!
