Chicks' names

I just 8 silkies and 10 RIR and the only one I have named yet is '' Drucillia" . Even my 3 yr. old can say her name now by the way that is my grandma's middle name I need to name one "durwood" because that is my PawPaw's middle name!!! LOL

My grandkids were just here, and each got a baby chick for (early) Easter present. Leghorns named Ted, Bob and Purbil. We have named one RIR Sweetcheeks, and one Araucana Queen Bee, so still have four to name. Have to wait to see their personalities, I guess.

The first one is b/c my oldest is a huge Egyptian fan, the next is my sons, who is all about spiderman, and the last is my middle dd who loves monkeys, and her fur real monkey's name is Junior, so this one became Little Junior.

Some of the names I hear for hens and pullets seem to be "old lady" names like Ethel, Mildrid, Josephine etc. I like those and they are cute in a way because when you think of a group of old ladies you may think of hens. I like the names you've posted, and they are your birds, name them what you want. I personally like names that come from nature. Maybe try some names of flowers or the names given to all the moons in our solar system. That's just if you are trying to get ideas. Otherwise, if you like the names, keep them.

OK, I don't usually respond to posts on forums and only use them to look up advice, but I had to respond to this one. We just got 54 chickens and my daughter who just turned 3 named one of them. She said it was so pretty that it looked like a gold nugget, so she named it Nugget! Now I thought that was pretty creative for a 3 yr old to name a chicken Nugget.

My big girls have old-timey names: Lavern, Shirley (BRs) Possum (BO) because she likes to climb on things, Ruby (RIR), Pie (Red Star) short for Pumpkin Pie, Gracie (Cochin mutt) because she is kind of special ed like Gracie Burns.
My new Silkies will all have french names because their coop is the Silkie Chateau and has french wine crate nest boxes. Babette, Colette, Yvette, Paulette, Suzette and Pierre.
