So my quail chicks are now about 5 days old, and since them hatching, I’ve lost 4. They just lay down with limp necks, and they are still breathing, and their legs are moving. What’s causing this?

I see what you mean by not very big. It really isn't big enough to have a warm end and a cool end. It's actually kind of important to have that so the chicks can choose the comfortable temperature for themselves and to get them used to normal temperatures by putting their food and water in the cool end.

That isn't a good idea either, you need to have some circulation of fresh air. Although it would provide shade, the temperature will most likely increase due to it being held inside the tote.

The best solution is to get a bigger/longer tote.

That's pretty high for five day old chicks. Do they have a cool end of the brooder to escape from the heat? It kind of sounds like they're overheating to me.
The brooder is kinda small, so it’s hard to keep it cool on one side, but there definitely is a cooler side. I’ll raise the heat lamp

I think you are overheating them. Can you post a picture of their setup?
