Today is day 20 of my incubation and my chicks are supposed to hatch today, tomorrow, or Monday. I haven't heard any of them make a sound! Is that good or bad? And my air bubble was on the small end of the egg when we candled them on day 14. So we layed them on their sides. 3 out of 7 eggs had blood veins. I don't know if any are alive anymore. My dad said he heard them yesterday, but I haven't heard them once. This is my first time hatching, too. Will my eggs hatch? I have to leave soon and I won't be back until late tonight. Hopefully they'll be okay for a few hours while I'm gone?

Without any information besides the day they are "supposed to" hatch, it's impossible to tell you whether they will or not. If your temperatures dropped for any length of time, or your thermometer was off during incubation, they may be delayed. Of course they will be fine if you leave for a few hours. You are leaving then alone in the incubator, right? Not opening it for any reason, right? So, things will be progressing the same if you're there or not. Take a deep breath, smile, enjoy your time away, and deal with the outcome of your chickens when it's time. The incubation period can vary several days in either direction - 21 days is a general guideline, of when they usually hatch. It is not a rule.

I had a chick that I thought was for sure dead in the egg.... No peeping or movement... I waited till day 25 before tossing the eggs... And when I went to pick it up to toss it, it had finally decided to hatch!! Hold out a little longer!!

Temperatures didn't drop for long periods of time. They dropped when I opened the lid to refill the water and turn the eggs though. But after day 18 I didn't turn them anymore so they could sit or something so they can hatch. Thanks!

So excited for them to hatch!

Now day 22 and no noise or movement! We're gonna candle tonight and see if any are alive. I'm really hoping some will hatch.

Temperature has been between 98-100 degrees. No idea what humidity is at.

Never heard of the float test. What is it? No movement or noises yet. We have 2 or 3 more hours yet to go then we can candle. Not dark enough yet.
