Chicks now or next spring?

I'd get them now - our babies are due to arrive next week & we are SOOO excited!

Also, I may be wrong, but I think that somewhere in all my reading I came across something that said sometimes a hen will crow or do something close to it - when there is no rooster around. I'm sure someone here can clear that one up for me. I'm so new to this.

Renfrow Hardware in Matthews has pullets - they'll have them until the end of June. Phone number on their web-site www.renfrowhardware.com so you can double check. Matthews is just outside Charlotte. I just got mine last weekend.

Thanks so much to everyone-I found a neighbor with hundreds of chicks. I got several different kinds from her. They are all just days old, so I'm back doing the baby chick routine. Rex, my horse, can hardly eat his supper for staring at his new barnmates!
