My chicks are about 8 weeks old now. Is it ok for them to have the same scratch I give the older hens? The thing that really concerns me is the cracked corn that is in it.Thank you for your help!

At 8 weeks old, they can have a little scratch as a treat (the corn and/or grain, depending on what you feed). The stuff you should be concerned about is the laying feed. The extra calcium the big girls need is bad for chicks. If you give them the scratch, make sure they have access to grit. Good luck.

Quote:Thanks...keeping them on the same feed but just wanted to give them a treat from time to time. Something easy and they already come running to the fence when I throw scratch for the big girls. And as for grit...I am in Florida so a lot of sand in the yard...grit is not an issue LOL. Thank you for taking the time to reply![IMG]
