Ok, Maybe this seems like a dumb question..... but here goes.
My chicks were ordered in a batch of 25, I got 3, my friend kept 11 and the rest went somewhere else. The other sets of chicks have been sleeping in coops outside for about 2 weeks with no heat lamps on - our outside night time temp is no colder than 79 these days... I fixed my coop to be more protected today (put metal hurricane panels up on two sides where the wind comes from, added 4 inches of pine shavings to the floor and put in a cubby where they could go into in case it got really windy). They seemed upset that they couldn't come into my bathroom tonight - but I do think they have gotten spoiled. Are they going to be alright? I mean there are only 3 vs. 11. Does the amount of chicks in one spot determine when I should move them? Will I wake up to dead chicks tomorrow? They are 4 weeks by the way and heavily feathered.
Am I a bad chicken mom?
