we got 4 americaunas a week ago. All 2 days old . One is definately more aggressive and in charge. She pushes them out if the way, steps on them. But nothing hurtful. We got 2 new Wyondottes 3 days ago. They are 2 days old. The 1 week olds started pecking at the new ones toes right away. Aggressively. We separated them for a day. 3 of the 4 assimilated with no problem. The one still chases and pecks their feet. To the point where she is picking up their whole leg. We separated her for a day, with a screen so they can all see eachother. When we put her in with the others she went after the babies again, at the toes. We are going to have her by herself on one half of the brooder tonight. I feel bad leaving her alone. She is sadly chirping. But, she is so mean to the babies. Will this behavior end? I cant let her give them bloody toes. Any ideas? It's so stressful!

Is the aggressive chick eating and drinking enough? I would encourage the aggressive chick to eat and drink more, by tapping at feed and water.

Is the picked on chick properly peppy and keeping up with the rest? Maybe feed it, and the aggressive chick, some save-a-chick or something similar.

I’ve seen the toe grabbing occasionally. It has usually stopped after the birds realize that toe isn’t a worm. If I understand the story line I think part of the issue was adding the younger smaller birds to the group. Anyway, you definitely don’t want it to result in bleeding because if it does they could all begin to cannibalize. Separation of the offender was a good idea. Probably as the younger birds grow a bit they will be able to fend off the attacks or the offending bird will lose interest. I keep trouble makers separate despite their complaints.

The aggressive chick is ALWAYS eating. while the others try to sleep she is RUNNING all over the brooder. She only sleeps when i pick her up. So strange. The picked on chicks were peppy, SUPER SMALL though, so not completely keeping up with them
