Good Morning,

I purchased 6 3 day old chicks pullets 3 weeks ago. They have been together since I brought them home. Yesterday afternoon all of a sudden 5 were pecking on one's chicks back and it was bleeding. I removed the chick and cleaned up the wound and have her seperated now. But why would this happen after 3 weeks together?

Is the chick sick? Did it have a wound to being with?

Could be that one chick pecked it hard enough to make it bleed and then it caused all the others to start pecking it as well.

Once blood is drawn usually it attracts chickens to continually peck it due to the red color. Put Blu-Kote on it to stop the pecking.
