I ordered 10 Welsummers from Cackle hatchery. They arrived yesterday along with 5 buff orpingtons pullets. Right from the get go the Welsummers starting pecking at the orpingtons so I moved the orpingtons thinking that they looked different and maybe that was what was going on.
In a hour time they were pecking each other, ones eye was swelled shut, I romoved him and then did a on line search and read maybe they were to hot or crowded no in both cases. Then I read use a red bulb, I didn't have one or know where to find one. I saw someone sugusted putting a few drops of vinager in their water , I did that and in 3o minutes they began to get better . So if you have chicks picking at each other try a teasoon of vinager to a gallon of water.
I am wondering why only that breed was picking and I am wondering if it is the breed.
