chicks!! (picts!)

OK, I have moved them both to the brooder. Neither one seems stressed. Should I do anything about the pasty bits? How do I make sure it's not "pasting up"?

Yeah, sometimes they are sticky and it takes time for the stuff to fall off. I had a leghorn chick have his head fluff slicked back for a whole week. You could easily pick him out from the other 20 or so

Are you talking about pasty butt or just kind of dried sticky from the hatching process? I've never had a chick get pasty butt that quickly. I'd leave it alone for now.

It's mostly dried stickiness from hatching. But it may have pasty butt too, I dunno. I don't totally know what I'm looking at. When would pasty butt occur? How do you treat it?

Some of my chicks didn't get fluffy for a few days, and I'm seeing other people's chicks on here, all fluffy, and worried, but they did get fluffy.
Pasty butt is when their poop gets stuck around their rectum, and it gets hard, and prevents them from pooping. I think you have to wet it, maybe with a q tip, and gently try to pick the cr*p off. I have even taken a q tip with olive oil and oiled their area back there.

There are some dark green globs stuck to the side of the chick. What are they? I do hope this chick survives. If I did the day-old sexing right, this one's a female and the fluffy one is a male. I can't get too attached to males, as they may not have long to live...
