chicks to chickens

At what point do chicks turn into chickens. I know, funny question... But our chicks are 9 weeks old and my DH laughs at me because I still call them chicks. Some have started making "big girl" sounds rather than just peeping sounds. Are my girls officially chickens and no longer chicks???

once they get their feather, I would say

Well, they're pullets, actually, because they are female under one year of age. But I refer to mine as "adolescents" until they are making chicken sounds.
