Here where I live I am only able to get three grain scratch, chick starter, broiler finisher and egg maker, no grower. In previous hatches I fed starter for 16 weeks then switched to egg maker. My question is should I feed the broiler finisher for a while, or go straight to the egg maker from the chick starter as I have done before?

Feed the starter as you have in the past. There's just no reason to rush layer feed. Most breeds don't enter point of lay until 20-24 weeks when they begin to lay small, pullet eggs. THAT is when they need the super high calcium layer feed, and not before. Once you see eggs? That is the transition day.

Thank you Fred. I just had a thought that it might be as good idea to feed them the broiler finisher for a time period between the starter and egg maker. But I will take your advice and feed starter until first egg and then egg maker.
Thanks again and God bless!
