Here's a homemade chicks waterer that a few people from the other thread requested:

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I've used this for all my chicks and it works wonder.

Yes, it's basically a smaller bottle inside a larger bottle. As the chicks get bigger, you can use bigger bottles to increase the amount of water. Here are the steps:

1. Find 2 bottles, one larger than the other. The size of the bottles you use will determine the amount of water you can put in as well as the stability of the waterer.
2. Cut the top of the larger bottle so that the diameter of the smaller bottle barely fit into the larger bottle (right bottle on pic #3).
3. Cut small squares or arches in the larger bottle so that the chicks have barely enough room to stick their heads inside for a drink. Space the arches about 1/2" from each other and about 1" from the bottom (right bottle on pic #3).
4. Carefully drill small holes at the mouth of the smaller bottle (pic #1). 6-8 small holes will do, you may need more or less depending on the size of your bottles.
5. Clean and fill the small bottle with water and put the larger bottle over it, then invert it and you're ready to go (pic #2).

My chicks have never toppled the bottles over, although I've been using it for a very long time. Using a bottle with a wide bottom and filling the water up high will ensure that the bottle does not topple. Also, due to the roundless of the bottles, they have a very solid center of gravity and is very stable.

Yes it can, if you can find a bottles large enough to keep it from tipping over. I don't see a reason why the design won't work if you have larger bottles. However, given the fact that it's probably quite difficult to find a bottle large enough for that purpose, I'm sure there are better and more economical ways to make a waterer for large adult chickens.
