Okay I have a question... I have a naked neck x easter egger roo and hes only mated with two of my hens. One is a Rhode Island red , and then the other is a naked neck hen Goldie . and she is black but has gold flakes in her feathers really pretty. I didnt know which one laid the two eggs they are both a brown egg..

Okay my question is what color will the chicks be if the mom is goldie ? My roo is red and he carries the mottled gene cause when he was a chick he was mottled. Hes a handsome boy .. I guess Ill wait and see lol should be interesting to see what color these chicks will be if they hatch...

It is hard to say. The rooster is a cross so you really don't know what genes he will pass down to his children. You do not even know what genes he is carrying. I am not familiar with Black Turkens, but I don't think they should have any gold in them. She sounds like a cross too. That sounds like some gold leakage.

The mottled gene is recessive. The chicken has to have two copies of it, not one, for it to be seen in adult plumage. You can often see it in juvenile plumage, but not adult. So the chicks will not be mottled unless the hen also has that gene.

Not much help I know, but I enjoy crossing crosses with crosses. You never know what you will get.

I have no idea! But it is so fun to see what hatches out. I'd guess you'll get a reddish chick with some random color. Question is, will it have a naked neck? I can't remember right now if that is a recessive gene or not. And if you get hens, their eggs will be a funny color for sure, should be in the green family. Have fun and hope they hatch. HenZ
