Chicks will not go in house

I have 20 six week old Rhode Island Reds.I put them into the hen house two days ago.I have a fenced in area under the house but they will not go up the chicken plank at night.What can I do?:

you'll have to repeat that every evening for probably the first week or so and they eventually figure it out.

Ours did that too! It'll take them a while to figure it out. Ours have the entire backyard...(but not for long) we would have to round their little buts up every evening! Try using some scratch and calling them "here chick, chick" to persuade them to come in. If you have a little kid, have them help! Our 8yr old is the best darn chicken wrangler here in these parts!

Thanks for your reply.I was raised on a farm and we had lots of chickens.I don't remember them being so much trouble.I guess if you don't have a mom,you learn the best way you can.
