Hello all I have searched this forum and hadn't come across this yet so I thought I would ask.

We are picking up our 50 cornish giants (which are for meat) tommorrow. Now we are also getting 10 RIR & 10 Buff Orpingtons May 25th. So the giants will be significantly bigger than my new pets.

Can we put them together? or how long should they be apart (like other suggestions with older hens)

Any info would be fabulous!!

Thanks

The bigger ones may pick on the smaller ones. Watch them closely if you try to put them together. You wouldn't want a tragedy.

We're interested in input on this subject also. We have 24 9 week old hens and 10 15 month old hens. At some point we want them to share a run. We read that the newbies have to be somewhere around 6 months old to join the others. So wanting to see if that is other say here also.

I wouldn't put pullets in with adult hens unless they are close to the same size.

Thanks Imp.

We were going to segregate them for the first little while anyway. Yes I am trying to avoid any tragedy's this time around, I'm still ticked over the death of the one flippen chicken I named from the last time we had chickens 3 years ago.
