Some state poultry vets may do 2 birds for the same price, which makes it easier for them to find a cause. Let us know in this thread if you get results. Good luck.

I will definitely let you know. I just dropped the chick off and now I have to wait. I have a sick stomach-churning feeling about the salmonella, typhoid ,pullorum. Some state poultry vets may do 2 birds for the same price, which makes it easier for them to find a cause. I believe Alabama is a Pullorum-Typhoid clean state so I am not so sure you should be worried about it. (If you are in Alabama)I will definitely let you know. I just dropped the chick off and now I have to wait. I have a sick stomach-churning feeling about the salmonella, typhoid ,pullorum.
Yes I am in Alabama. I took the chick to a state lab luckily I have one within a few miles of my home.I believe Alabama is a Pullorum-Typhoid clean state so I am not so sure you should be worried about it. (If you are in Alabama)
Fowl typhoid is infection wit the Salmonella Gallinarum bacteria.
Pullorum disease is the infection Salmonella Pullorum bacteria.
I'd like to know what the lab finds.
Did you bring your chick to your state lab or to a regular vet?
What is the difference between the two?I believe Alabama is a Pullorum-Typhoid clean state so I am not so sure you should be worried about it. (If you are in Alabama)

When you asked about sanitizing the incubators I realized that I can't remember an instance of this in my incubated chicks , only in those hatched outside under broody's. Also only within the last few months. In March I received chicks from a hatchery. 15 chicks three different breeds. At the end of one week 4 out of 5 chicks of one specific breed died in this same manner. Whatever this is I think may have been introduced at that time. The reason I got worried about the salmonella / typhoid is because the symptoms correlate so closely, and it was the first symptoms that I've come across that fit. Hopefully I'm just seeing zebras.Kikisgirls, I also doubt that salmonella is the problem, but it would be good to check for it, since the OP has had a lot of chicks dying from an unknown cause, with symptoms of white droppings then death. I wondered about incubator infection, but hopefully, they will be able to give some info with the necropsy.
Don't confuse this with the "food poisoning" Salmonella. What is the difference between the two?
