Chicks with whitish discharge

Some state poultry vets may do 2 birds for the same price, which makes it easier for them to find a cause. Let us know in this thread if you get results. Good luck.
I will definitely let you know. I just dropped the chick off and now I have to wait. I have a sick stomach-churning feeling about the salmonella, typhoid ,pullorum.

I believe Alabama is a Pullorum-Typhoid clean state so I am not so sure you should be worried about it. (If you are in Alabama)

Fowl typhoid is infection wit the Salmonella Gallinarum bacteria.
Pullorum disease is the infection Salmonella Pullorum bacteria.

I'd like to know what the lab finds.
Did you bring your chick to your state lab or to a regular vet?

Kikisgirls, I also doubt that salmonella is the problem, but it would be good to check for it, since the OP has had a lot of chicks dying from an unknown cause, with symptoms of white droppings then death. I wondered about incubator infection, but hopefully, they will be able to give some info with the necropsy.

Yes I am in Alabama. I took the chick to a state lab luckily I have one within a few miles of my home.

What is the difference between the two?

When you asked about sanitizing the incubators I realized that I can't remember an instance of this in my incubated chicks , only in those hatched outside under broody's. Also only within the last few months. In March I received chicks from a hatchery. 15 chicks three different breeds. At the end of one week 4 out of 5 chicks of one specific breed died in this same manner. Whatever this is I think may have been introduced at that time. The reason I got worried about the salmonella / typhoid is because the symptoms correlate so closely, and it was the first symptoms that I've come across that fit. Hopefully I'm just seeing zebras.

Salmonella has been pretty rare for many years, thanks to NPIP testing. What hatchery did they come from? There has been some salmonella reported at an Ohio (Mt. Healthy) hatchery in the news a few years ago. I really hope that comes back as a negative. Frequently people can lose many of one certain breed with large shipments, so it seems that can be from a bad hatch.

It's a small local hatchery that I wouldn't feel comfortable naming as it's only a supposition. If it turns out to be something that could of originated with them then I will definitely name them and contact them. I did contact them at the time and they replied that they hadn't had any issues being reported by anyone else. So maybe just a coincidence? I can call the lab in the morning to possibly get an early opinion. Hopefully know something then, although I know it takes a week or so to get all results.
