These are purchased birds. The protein in the starter is only 18% surprisingly but my last birds, which are the exact same breed, did fine with it. The feed isn’t outdated, I will try fermenting some feed and see how that works, thank you for the advicewelcome to BYC!!
The pics are a bit blurry but it looks like wing feathers are emerging. Are these hatchery birds or purchased eggs? My point being I can imagine that the parent stock will play a role in growth rate.
Is the protein level in the feed is 20%? (not too relevant as you used same feed on prior chicks but helpful to know) Check that feed is not outdated. poops look good, so they are processing the feed. Have you considered fermenting feed? It increased bioavailability of nutrients in the gut and offers more rapid absorption. I just started fermenting starter and give as evening ‘treat’. chicks love it
As I said the feed is still In date, I will add an area with a heat lamp on it though, thanksAlso what's the dating on the bag of feed?

I really just started doing this myself. I use Purina chick starter, put a measured amt of feed in large mason jar, add dechlirinated water (I have well water so thats not an issue). fill to about 2 in above feed. stir then cover with a cloth and set in a 70 + degree room. stir 2-3 times a day. feed will smell sweet/sour after about 2 days. its ready on day 3. strain out what you need for feed. What is your method for fermenting seed?
