I felt bad that my chickens were all trying to roost in a small area where there wasn’t enough room. We built another roost on the other side but none of them will roost there, in fact, one or two end up on the floor.😰

Try just lifting up the chickens that are on the floor and placing them on the roost at night. They may also have trouble accessing it, so you may want to add a ramp. Make sure that it's never just one that you're placing on the other roost, as they like to be together.

Sometimes you may have to go over and get some from the crowded side and move them while they are asleep to the other side, It really helps if you make sure the ones you relocate are the "underdogs" - and lower on the pecking order. The ones who think they are hot shots do not like to have their hierarchy disturbed.

My 7 chickens seemed crowded in their current coop so I bought another coop the exact same model, cut out the backs of both coops and placed them back to back. The roosts are the same height in both sections. I’ve had the new coop in place now about2 weeks but no one uses the new roosts. They do like to use the new nesting boxes though. I guess I can try moving a few to the new roosts after they are asleep.
