Chicks won't go into coop

That first one is it! Thank you!

I bookmarked it this time. (I thought I did last time, but had a blonde moment.)
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Once your chicks are fully feathered, if there are no active drafts in their coop to ruffle their feathers, they really don't need heat... unless your temps get colder than, say 10 below zero. They just need to not get wet, and they'll be fine. Remember they are birds, and if wild birds can survive your temps outside, your chickens can, inside an enclosed building.

In fact adding heat can be dangerous. If they're used to it and the power goes out ... they'll be worse off than if they never had become acclimated to the heater. The sudden drop in temps could really do them in.

Thank you for the info. The article was really informative and helped me with my layout when I build the big new coop and run.

I also used the little pen for introducing a dog to my chickens, using a variation on the "see-no-touch" method. Worked great and he's 100% reliable with the chickens
I like the concept, but absolutely no way I could do that. I have a weimaraner with an very high prey drive. I have my backyard for him about 50ft away from one side of the barn, and the coop and run hidden on the other. The less he knows about chickens, the better. lol

Sounds good, lol. I had a young, stupid Sheltie. Now I have an old, stupid Sheltie. All he knows or cares about the chickens is they get dried mealworms in the afternoons and he wants some of that. 😆
