Chicks Won't Use the No-Waste Feeder!

I purchased a diy kit from Rent a Coop. It came with everything I needed except the bucket. Even had the hole saw bit i needed. Anyway the girls didnt eat from it at first so i filled the elbows with feed so they could see it... they have been shoulder deep ever since.

I made a miniature of that with some deli salad containers from work (as the deli clerk responsible for packing the salads into individual portion containers I have access to a nearly unlimited supply of 3# and 5#, food-grade plastic containers), but it proved so top heavy that the chicks overturned it within minutes.

The items I used can't be hung up so I have to figure out a no-tip base or come up with something different.

For the moment, the hanging feeder is working though who knows what will happen as they grow. :)
With a 5-gallon bucket it won’t tip over.

My chickens make a huge mess with feed. When the feeder runs out and there’s food all over the ground, guess what? They eat off the ground until the bulk of it is gone.
