im getin new batch of meat chicks only 25 to add to the other 50 i alrady got the temps here are 80-90s during day 70s upper 60s at night wich its warmer in the barn were the brooding pen is my question is with the hot temps do they really need a heat lamp? i have a heat lamp hangin above their pen i took the red heat blub out and put a regualr 60 watt bulb for lighting will that be ok? should i leave the light on all night?

The standard practice is to put chicks in the brooder at 95°, and lower it 5° every week until you hit the normal air temperature. If the barn is in the 90s during the day, you might be able to turn the heat lamp off, but they'll need it at night.

If you are willing to gamble the money it cost to buy the birds, you can. I wouldn't.

id say no lower than 70 at nigh in my barn and no worrie of dampness in the barn
the 60 watt bulb i put in raised the floor heat directly under it by 10 or fewer degrees

I'd put the heat lamp out for the first week and then see how they do.
