Hi I tried to hatch chicks last month and was unsuccessful, on day 24 I opened the eggs and the chicks were formed but not breathing....it appeared that maybe some organs were on the outside of the chicks? has anyone had this problem and would low humidity cause this to happen??

If the membrane was sticking to the little babies, then the humidity was too high. If the membrane was like paper the the humdity was too low. I would suggest you calibrate your hygrometer to be sure it is accurate. There are several references on how to do that. I use this one,

If you have a digital thermometer/hygrometer (as I do), you can use 2 bags with the inner bag open so that the hygrometer can show humidity without getting battery rusty etc

Hope this helps! (Calibrating the thermometer is probably a good idea as well!!! Nancy
