Chihuahua Haters

A lot of people hate cats for no reason too. Perhaps people just love to hate? I think your dog is cute though!

I'm not a hater just honestly think chihuahuas are ugly not ugly fugly and I heard lot lot of people saying the same ugly eyes ears look like rats annoying etc personal I will never own a chihuahua even if someone offer me 1000 if I agree to have one not even for 5000

I have never met a good Chihuahua yet, every one I have met is yapping, high strung, and vicious. The only dogs I have ever been bitten by were all small dogs. I'm not a fan of them because people seldom raise them right and treat them like toys rather than animals. If a big dog did half the stuff little dogs did they would be put down. Small dogs can be good, yes, but not many people put the training into a small dog so on a whole I avoid all small dogs because outside of my own Bichon I have never had a good experience with them. I also owned a half Chihuahua rescue for 8 years and she was my living breathing nightmare. Certainly would never get another one. I like my Bichon and that is about it and even he isn't perfect since he's unsafe around children but at least he listens and doesn't yap at all hours of the night or pee all over the house. I can deal with him not liking children since we have no children in this house.

Good grief!! I used to have three Chihuahuas in the house and they were nothing like you describe. They were never yappy, high strung, or vicious. Never. They were all well housebroken, too. None of them liked children (that may be a breed characteristic) but since I don't have children and seldom have guests that do, that isn't a problem. I currently have two dogs, a Basset named Millicent and a Chihuahua terrier cross named Sammy. Sammy isn't yappy or high strung either. He occasionally snaps at Millicent but at no one else. He is a velcro dog, though. He likes to be very close to me but it is not because he is timid. He isn't. He occasionally barks at someone who comes to the door and at dogs that may stray into the yard if he sees them from the window. He squeaks excitedly to greet people he knows and likes. Other than that he is quiet. My little dogs have always acted like big dogs because that is what they thought they were. I didn't spend a lot of time training them either.

I had two of my serious dog attacks on me from chihuahua's, one required stitches in my face when I was 10. Also the only time my Bichon was viciously attacked by another dog was a Chihuahua at a dog park. He bit through my dogs ear and Louie was bleeding all over. I still prefer to put Louie in the big dog park rather than the small dog park fearing another dog will attack him. Never had problems with Louie around bigger dogs, they tend to play easier with him than some small dogs did and less humping. To many people treat their little dogs like something other than a dog and makes them total nightmares. I just can't trust any of them but my own since my Bichon is a farm dog, raised with farm dogs, and thinks he is a border collie if anything else. He even works at herding miniature horses and I will be training him to be a daytime flock guardian to my chickens. He already 'guards' the chicks from the cats int he house. When I first got him he was a typical nightmare but I got him young enough to show him he's a dog and will be treated like a dog, not a human child or accessory. We took him in after his original owner died and his first adoptive household had their child bitten by him.
