Children and ducks

I have only had a few male ducks, and they didn't have a mean bone in their body. When my toddler would trot around trying to catch one, they would just let themselves get herded around the yard. Its built into their nature to retreat to water as their defense.

Now roosters on the other hand, totally different ball game. I assume male geese too but haven't had one of those yet.

Something to research that hasn't been mentioned is that it isn't always safe for your chickens to be around a drake during mating season because he could hurt your hen's. If this is a concern I wouldn't go through TSC and gamble for female ducks. Maybe order females through hatchery as they will ship 2 or more pending on hatchery.
