Chinese Blue Breasted "Button Quail" Thread!!

I am keeping in pairs, but what if i don't have a complete pair for a color, then can I mix (If i have a pair of the same color, I am pairing them)?
 
Yes, you can. I am just saying they are happiest (and last longer) in pairs. They are not colony birds. Kudos to you!

Because people have been housing them incorrectly in colonies for so many years and mixed the colors too much.
 
So if people can't mix button quail to get different colors then let's say people can't mix chicken breeds to get different colors. See how many folks go along with that. I'm not saying that your method is right or wrong I'm not saying mine is right or
wrong either. It is all opinionated. For the people that buy my quail they just want a few to go in the bottom of an aviary and they want a variety of colors. Everyone around here that I know keep colonies.
