Hello,

This is my first experience with chinese painted and it seems like they appreciate my care.

The female has dug a hole in the straw down to the soil and is laying a clutch of eggs in it. Is there anything I should do at this point?

Thanks in advance!

If you really want them to hatch you would do best to use an incubator. Buttons are not the best at hatching chicks. If you really don't care one way or the other then leave them be. she will lay about 8-10 then sit. Although she might not sit tight enough to hatch them. If she does then be sure to watch that the adults do not kill the chicks when they hatch so have a brooder set up and ready by day 16 after she sits tight.
and normally the eggs are only good for 7-8 days without being incubated.
good luck
