Chicks are about 5-6 weeks old. We’ve been taking them outside to spend the days in the coop/run for the past week or two when the weather is nice. Today when we brought them back inside, they would NOT stop chirping. It’s storming outside so I thought maybe that could be the reason. But after a while I turned all of the lights off and they stopped! I’ve heard of chicks being “scared of the dark” but who would’ve thought they were just ready for bed?? Has anyone else experienced this?

Well, we got 6 chicks a few weeks ago and then decided to get one more. We brought her home and snuck her in the brooder with the other 6.
The others didn’t notice but she did.
She wouldn’t stop screaming. Until it was night time and all went to sleep, the next day she was fine and normal.

It isn’t really similar to your problem but I felt like sharing it for some reason ❤️

Yes! They shut up with the lights off, (as long as they are still warm of course). Why I would like to switch to a heat plate someday instead of a heat lamp, better for them anyway.

Kinda similar, thanks for sharing. I learn something new everyday, it’s crazy.

I don’t blame them lol. Just so weird how it didn’t bother them yesterday but today they’re total divas.
