Hello! This is my second question today, but I enjoy bothering everyone. My three day old four chicks (golden comets), are chirping like crazy. They have a heat plate which is definitely working, and, until now, they loved. But when I came into the 75 degree room they were in, they were huddled in a corner away from the heat plate. Could they be screaming due to the fact that they are either too cold or too hot? I would have thought they were hot, but if so, why would they all be huddled together? I changed what I used for bedding from paper towels to hemp bedding, so could that have something to do with their noise? I could hear them from two floors down. And if it's not why they're chirping, why would they be huddled in the corner? Any help much appreciated!

I was told that if they're as far as they can get from the heat source and screaming they're probably hot.

Do you have a thermometer on the bedding at their level?
I don't. I put one in to check and it was around 87 degrees, which is too cold I think for them at 3 days, but still 10 degrees warmer than outside the heat plate. I lowered the heat plate slightly, and they're back under it. Still being kind of noisy, but not at all as much as they were before. Thanks for the advice!
