Some of the newest button chicks! They would not stay still enough for me to get a nice picture.

I moved all of my Button Quail down to the basement. I had them in the garage, but was tired of having a heat lamp running for them. This is a pen of all my Silvers!
Wow, they are such a beautiful color and they are so tiny! I have always wanted quail ever since I learned a little bit about them a few months ago, but unfortunately its probably too cold for them here. 🙁

They are actually doing pretty well, and we have been having a lot of teens and negative temperatures. I did have to have a light on them at night and finally decided to just move them in the basement which is a little bit warmer than outside.
Of course our cats got into the brooder that had all the colored birds (other than silver) and ate over half of them the night I took that picture. :barnie I had separated them out because I wanted to get more colored chicks rather than all silver again…

They are so much fun to raise! They do fly though. You should see when one hops out as I am putting the food or water in and I basically am racing the cats to find him first.

Aw, how are you doing? Were you able to find a home for some of the birds that you were looking to find new homes for?
I'm doing alright, thanks! How about you?

I made the difficult decision to butcher one of my ducks for the sake of the other ducks. Their fighting was just getting out of hand. :( So I am going to keep the remaining three. I have also decided to keep my Brahmas for now unless I come across the perfect home for them.

Well, I already missed a day. :barnie
Here’s a photo to make up for yesterday:

We pick up milk for our pigs from the Hood facility right down the road from us and they had someone just drop 6 pallets worth of lettuce and leave them. They wound up calling us and asking if we would take it. Well, I know what the birds treats are going to be for the next few days. They love it! A picture of some of the boxes.
And this is Pom for my picture of the day (no, it wasn’t me who named him :p). He’s my favorite cat out of the four we have.

I’m doing alright! I’m glad to hear that. :hugs
That’s rough. I’m so happy that you were able to do the right thing. It’s always hard. I actually wound up getting rid of all my ducks. :(
That sounds like a great idea. It’s funny how those things happen, especially when you think you are dead set on something.

Oh no..may I ask why you got rid of your ducks?

I was never really dead set on it. I kept going back and forth because I love all of them. But I am going to be converting a shed into a second chicken coop so I'll have the room to keep them. 😊
