I was able to hatch 6 of the 12 eggs in the 'bator...sadly 5 of the chix died. I believe the overnight storms that kept knocking out the power to the heat lamp were cause...fluctuating temps. 1 gray girl survivor....7 more in bator. Just enough time before winter hits

What is the temperature under your heat lamp?
Heat lamps get too hot really fast and too hot kills.
Do you have a thermometer underneath the lamp?

How big is the brooder area? Are they able to get away from the heat?

Too hot will kill much faster than being cold and if they were inside your house it is highly unlikely that it was too cold for them.

I had two heat bulbs die on me in a number of hours. It was May, 40s out at night. I checked on the brooder in an outbuilding around 3 am and bulb #1 had burned out. Put in bulb #2. Came back at 7am, that one had burned out, too. All of the salmon faverolles ended up dying (I think they were weakened from the shipping), but all of the 3 other breeds I had acted like nothing had happened. I was amazed at their resiliency.
