The fuzzies are supposed to be here tomorrow from Meyer. Can you believe it is snowing right now and temp is 32 F. ??? I hope the brooder keeps up all right. I had the light on all morning (brooder is in the garage) and the temp only reached 72 F. I lowered the light (250 watt heat lamp) and will see how that goes. Want it to be a steady95F when the chicks come!!

Wow! WHere do u live that u r getting snow?? I want to move there! LOL I am in MD and it's a crappy cloudy, humid, ugly day today...temps r about 70, but with humidity feels like 80.

r these ur first fuzzybutts? U will just have to watch the chicks and see how they act. If they r traveling in that cold they will prob want a little more heat. Mine came from mypetchicken.com and shipped from Ohio and they were nice and warm. Mine never wanted the 95 F temp tho. I have 3-5 week olds now and about 70-75 is where they like it right now. The younger 3 week olds like to snuggle with the older girlies. It's so cute! Make sure u post lots of pics!!!

I live in far northern Wisconsin very close to the UP Michigan border, but can not put up a profile yet because I do not have enough messages posted. Yes, these are my first fuzzies. I was raised on a farm, but have not seen a live chicken in decades!! Back then the hens took charge of the chicks! Anyway, I will take the info here under advisement and will watch the fuzzies and how they react to the temperatures and see if it should be lowered. Will start with 95F and go from there! You people on BYC are wonderful and almost all of my info on raising chickens has come from here. I had a hard time with calculus back when I was in school, but I went into TSC a few days ago and you people on the forum are correct - chicken math can be scary!! lol

I love the cold myself...but I can't get any of my family to agree with me so I guess I'm stuck in MD! LOL These are my 1st fuzzies too. My neighbors have always had chickens and my aunt always did...but I am all new to this. BYC has been incredible. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly. I have 29 peeps. I have had all of them since they were 2-3 days old. It has been so much fun! They r so great to watch!
