Yall, I am going through it. With the sudden death of a chicken this week and rain non-stop for essentially, two weeks but constant downpour for the last 4 consecutive days. All FOUR of my ducks now have bumblefoot. Despite my best efforts, their sand run has been damp for the entire week. Now, the bumble foot is so mild that only one of the four really has me concerned (she has about 4-5 very small lesions on both feet). The other 3 have one very small lesion each. The size of a pen mark. My girl with the most lesions got a soak in diluted chlorhexidine solution this evening and I plan to soak all of their feet twice a day through the next few days to hopefully catch it before it becomes a bigger problem. The issue is, my little girl decided to dunk her head a few times in the bucket she was sitting in and I’m sure, ingested some of the solution. It also was a little too deep for her so it got on her feathers as she sat there and also as she flapped around. I cannot find anywhere the information about whether it’s toxic or would just cause mild stomach upset if anything. Anyone have this experience? Should I be worried? Obviously refining my process for the next soak. Thanks in advance for any advice for this frazzled first timer.
