I am looking for a recipe of this cake.
My Mom made it for years and then lost the recipe.
I did Google it and looked everywhere, but could not find the one that she made.
What she does remember is it called for sour milk, not buttermilk; and it had melted chocolate in the batter.
It came out like a large brownie.

Does anybody have this recipe or know of it?

I love Texas Sheet Cake but it uses cocoa. The recipe she wants calls for melted chocolate.

ETA: Hey, just checked out the black bean cake...it looks VERY good. Being diabetic I think I might try this...sans the honey, though.

Thanks for the recipe...!

You should be fine with the honey.
Honey behaves very differently then refined sugar does.
My dh is type 1. This ckae hardly disturbs his levels.
You need the honey to get the moisture needed in this cake.
No other way to do it....
Besides, its very high in real fats that will also slow the sugar uptake as well.

I don't know why I didn't think of it before but I have sugar free honey in my pantry!

I'll bite. Whats sugar free honey? Or are you just refering to it being unrefined sugar?

Oh, should have mentioned, we eat that cake with a dollop of raw cream over it.
