Aye, the Uk Chocolate is Sex linked.
Which was why Chocolate Male Orp Bantams were fetching £500 to £800 at one point.
Now with a lot more being bred, the price has come down to £50 to £300 (www.bid4poultry.co.uk this is a UK auction site for poultry so sadly won't be of use for USA buying but you can see the prices.)
There have been a number of people who with Chocolate Orp Cocks, have been crossing those into other breeds to create the Chocolate Gene into that Strain.
Their are a few people selling those crosses as First Crosses or Second Crosses and their eggs. And again, even those 1st and 2nd Crosses are fetching silly money.
In order to do a full test on thios boy, I have to Cross back to Black Silkies, and then Cross Him back to his daughters etc Which will either prove or Disprove his Chocolate Gene, which is why the breeding will be purely a personal Project for me. At the very least I will have some nice Broodies.
Yup, He is soooooooooooooooooooooo Ugly he becomes cute. Like Naked Mole Rats lol
Hubby thinks he is the Fugliest bird he has seen lol In a funny way. And that his wattles look very like, erm, withered scrotal sacks. lol
