I have three brown shavers, just over a year old. All were excellent layers, until one dwindled and then stopped, about three months ago.
Her comb is pale, while the other two are brilliant red and getting on with the business.
I cannot figure out what the problem is.
She's not broody.
She's not molting.
They are wormed, and lice and mites are under control.
She's not bullied – they all get on fine.
She eats well, drinks clean water and has plenty of energy.
It's summer in New Zealand – not too hot, not too cold.
There are no predators here.
I haven't changed their feed.
I can't see that she has a cold.
Her crop is the same as the others.
What else? I'm at my wits end!
