Being in Australia it's really hot in summer and when it rains it is really humid. But I noticed when my chooks get wet they run about and sit in the dirt and chuck all the dirt up. They do that for about 10 min all huddled up even though it is 40-43 (Celsius). They have shelter and everything but being and curious they stay away from the shelter until they realise they get wet.
Is it normal for them to run about and sit in the dirt having a dirt bath for a long time and snuggle up even though it is boiling hot?
Would they get sick?

I've never seen the behavior that you describe, but I will say that 10 minutes of wet hens huddling together won't make them sick.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it.
