Chooks Pigged Out On BOSS! Any danger in that?

I was so busy last night that I took an open, 2 gallon bucket full of black oil sunflower seeds out into the henhouse and then left it there -- in the open -- for about 16 hours.

Do you know what happens when you leave an open, 2 gallon bucket full of BOSS in reach of 12 hens and one rooster?

Those feathered pigs ate a full half of the bucket by the time my wife found the problem.

Is there any danger with chooks pigging out on BOSS?

Fat, happy chickens! With expensive, oily poop...

I left a bag o' BOSS out, but always curled the open bag top back down as I used it.

Yeah, right. Today I noticed it was open, on its side, and the bag was moving.

Inside it was a very happy little bantam EE pullet.

So, being perverse - no, I did not close her inside it! - I left the bag there, open. Every time I go out and check, there's a different chicken in it. I WISH I'd had my camera when I saw the rooster's tail hanging out of it! Carl is a huge rooster, and he was all hunkered down with just those glorious beetle-green-black tailfeathers visible.

good question, because I have been concerned with feeding too much BOSS at bedtime.
I put a couple of good handfuls in at night for 4 regular and 2 bantums.
is that enough or should I give them more?
