I have a brinsea octogon advance and was thinking of getting a seperated incubator for hatching. I heard it's not great for hatching because of its size and difficulty cleaning out the fan. I don't want to do a styrofoam bator because I want something durable and easy to clean.

I was thinking of an octo Eco 20 or the mini. Not sure if I should just go with another advance without the cradle. What are some suggestions and your personal experiences. Does the humidity pump make much difference?

I have the advance too and incubate and hatch in it. I also have the humidity pump so the incubator has the evaporation pad in too and I have got on fine hatching in it. Yes it does get a little crowded when quite a few hatch but nothing they can't cope with. The Eco is the same size and shape incubator it's just the control panel on the top that's different on the advance. The mini even smaller only a 7 egg capacity.

The fan is not that bad to clean, I give the lid a blow through (outside) with the hair dryer and every third hatch I take the guard cover off and give it a really good clean through. You would still have the same thing to do if you got the Eco as its the same lid.

The pump is super!! Takes a lot of worry out of humidity control. Simply set the desired level you want and the pump keeps the average at that. Totally set and forget barring topping the water tank up under the pump. Would really reccomend it.

Here is the pump attached to the incubator.
