I'd like to get another rooster at some point when I have more hens, but I'm finding it difficult to find information about general temperaments.
The breeds I'm looking into and have/will have hens from are Jersey Giant, Rhode Island Red, Australorp, Barred Rock, Dominique, and Buckeye. Possibly Iowa Blue?
The traits I'm looking for once full-grown are:
Not super flighty (my Sebright roo is impossible to catch)
Not aggressive to humans
Watchful for predators, especially hawks
Not a bully to hens
Capable of living with another rooster
I understand that each bird is their own, but tips for which breed to look at in general for these traits would be very helpful.
Also, what is the general age that roosters settle into their personality?
