Christmas 2014 Hatch-a-Long (12-25-14)

Ten of mine are going strong. The runty last one to hatch died a couple days after hatching. It just kept getting weaker and weaker, so I knew it was coming. I have 5 chipmunks, 2 yellows, and 3 buffs. The yellows hatched from my welsummers eggs and the buffs from my black star. The others are hopefully a blue egg layer cross. It will be investing to see how they all grow up, and who ends up being roosters! A guy on a Facebook group of mine had to quickly get rid of 16 chicks (15 olive eggers and 1 American Bresse) hatched around new years. His mom had passed away and he had to travel to the funeral. So sad. So I took all of them and added them in with mine...Lots of chirping going on! I will keep a few and sell the extras.

That's so exciting, are you just brooding them for him until he is back & settled or are they your compleyely?

My chicks are all doing great.  Well, actually one died about a week ago.  Not sure why???  19 still going strong and growing like weeds.  I love when they get to that "crazy" stage where they all start running around freaking out and flapping their wings for no reason.  it's fun watching them and rolling my eyes.

Sorry bout the chick you lost. They are funny when they popcorn. Mine learned that it's fun to scratch all their bedding out of the cage during the night! :lau

Good to hear you were able to take them in for him, that's awesome.

Agreed.

No but I do have 7 Mille Fleurs with a hatch-day this coming Thursday :)

Uno is getting lonely. When we go out to the garage she begs for attention. And she gets it, lol. I'll have to get a new picture of her today.

I'm not, I figured out why to not hatch in the winter

Hope those eggs do good.

LOL. But we just can't resist.

We saw two of the eggs wiggling tonight so I put them in lock-down 12 hours early.
