We got her at a local feedstore. The sign read "Ameraucana". There were not additional descriptors except that they are a docile breed. That was the only reason my husband picked her. What variety of Ameraucana is she?

She’s most likely an Easter Egger if she came from a feed store. I had Feed store EEs, they were so friendly! I only asked the variety because I noticed your from Washington too. Thought maybe by chance we had distantly related birds. We got her at a local feedstore. The sign read "Ameraucana". There were not additional descriptors except that they are a docile breed. Good luck with your girl.I also have a hen who is a year old. She has had 3 soft eggs the pass few days and always looks uncomfortable when laying. I hear they are hard to pass because it is hard to push out something so soft. I am trying to boost her calcium as all of them have been on all-flock due to young pullets in the flock. They always have oyster shells. I am going to try to give her egg with a crush calcium pill everyday and see what happens.
I am so sorry to read this. I was really hoping that she would be okay. Wishing you happiness and good health to the rest of your flock.Incase anyone was following, my hen did pass away. I’m sure it was a lash egg infection/salpingitis.
Thank youI am so sorry to read this. I was really hoping that she would be okay. Wishing you happiness and good health to the rest of your flock.
i've never offered oyster shells and grit. just oyster shells. they can get grit outside...I haven’t pinpointed who was laying the shell-less eggs until now. I know she can lay a regular egg because I only have 4 green layers and I’ve gotten 4 green eggs recently. All my birds are home hatched. I have Wheaten Marans and Wheaten Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers from my own cross with Ameraucanas and Sexlinks. They have free choice Nutrena and oyster shell, grit, and controlled free range time.
