James and I were out of town this weekend in San Francisco. Chuck and Buck and the other two kids stayed home. When we got home last night, James was wiped out and just laid on the living room floor. After a few minutes I realized Chuck and Buck hadn't seen Daddy in like 48 whole hours.

I go to the back door and they are both laying in their Quack Shack. Have I mentioned they have never once used that thing and absolutely hate it? I tell them "Daddy's home!" Mind you, James is laying on the floor right past their indoor sleep pen. Chuck and Buck waddlesprint in. They come to a halt at the closed door of the pen. They wouldn't move, even to go to James.

They stand. They stare at their the closed door. They would not leave. I opened the door and they jumped into their pen and immediately laid down. I stood there wondering what was going on. They never ignore Daddy! I thought something was definitely wrong.

I closed the door. As soon as I did the stood up screaming for Daddy! I opened the door and they waddlesprinted to him and fought each other for hugs and kisses.

Apparently they are not a fan of changing their routine. They come in, they go to their pen and lay down. Such good boys. Nothing like coming home from an amazing weekend to some duckie love!

Now if I could only train them that well with their poop!

And just because James is so excited (and so am I)... I have to tell you WHY we were in SF. James completed his 7th swim from Alcatraz and his 4th swim across the Golden Gate Bridge (with whales breaching the water near him). What makes it extra fun is he is less than three minutes off the record for the fastest swim across the GG..... and he hasn't even hit puberty yet. Sorry... had to tell everyone! Lol

And for your viewing pleasure, a throwback picture of the boys sleeping when they were smaller. One of my favorites.

Wow! I did not even know that you can swim across the Golden Gate! I thought the currents there are too strong and would drag out either out to the ocean or into the bay. Congratulations! James rocks! Would love to witness him swimming once.

You can swim just about anywhere there is water :). Where are you located? I can tell you if we're ever in the area. Or you can find his athlete page on FB (Team Savage), or Google him to find videos/articles.

Wow, that's amazing!!!!! If you're ever in PA for swim (which I'm sure you will be one day, James is going places!) please do let me know! I would love to see James swim and you guys could meet Gil!!!!! Chuck and Buck still not fans of swimming with James? I would think they would want to be glued to him in the water with the love they have for him and ducks love of water!

They love to swim with him but they prefer warm, clear waters. We managed to get them in the lake once and I kinda freaked out. They kept diving and I prayed each and every time that they would make it back up.

They'll swim in the pool for hours with James.

Awww how sweet! I just remembered they didn't like the murky water, but same with Gil!! These spoiled ducks. Gil went in the lake twice, once was a hot day and she was just swimming small tight circles near the land where I was. The other time, she fell out of the kayak and I LOST MY COOL! She was scared to hop back in the kayak because there were two coming at her and they look scary to her. We were way too far away from land to get her that way AND people were casting fishing lines. I nearly tipped myself to get her. Did I mention, the water was FREEZING. I eventually got close enough to just grab her and I felt so bad because I one handed grabbed her from the base of her neck. She didn't act like it hurt at all but it broke my heart a little to grab her roughly! I was just losing my cool because it took a lot to corral her and this is the ONLY time she ever left my side. I cuddled the poop out of her on the ride back into the land!

Awww. Poor Gil. I'm sure she was thankful for you for saving her from those big mean kayaks! Lol

I love watching the boys chase James in the pool, especially when he swims under them. They dunk their heads and watch and then torpedo dive at him. James sneaks up and tickles their feet and they freak out.

Charleston West Virginia - not much water around here, except for the Kanawha river, but even there its more about bungee jumping from the New River Gorge bridge. WV is all about hiking, climbing and enjoying the green. But i have been in the bay area several times in the past from SFO down to Gilroy. Half Moon bay is one of my favorite spots and the Skyline Boulevard…
