Last year I was suprised to see that I had one of my hens setting her nest, she sat on the eggs for a little over a month and nothing hatched. I then tokk the eggs and cracked them open and most were developing, nothing resembling a chick, very early stages. She was setting the nest in June and I want to know if anyone else has had this happen or khnows how to get her to set earlier and keep the embryos from dying, it would be really cool to get one of my birds to hatch some of her own eggs.

Last year her eggs were all sprawled out even though I use nesting boxes but the birdfs dont care much for them. Any feedback helps, In my area I am the only one that raises chukar and good help is hard to come by.

that's likely why they were at different stages,

I'd make sure she was settled then in the middle of the darkest night (lights off, no moon)

I'd drop a prepared cage with water and food available in it.

----------

It would have a covered area and be made out of hardware cloth 1/4inch * 1/4inch and wood...

it be small enough to keep her in her nest at the covered side, and on the food/water side wider...

(it would have no bottom for the first couple days)

Then I'd stick a concrete block/regular brick/small anvil on the covered part of the top to keep the cage from getting tipped.
