Hi everyone!

I'm Terry, an American living in Italy and I'm looking forward to starting this backyard Chicken adventure!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Absolutely new, we just got our 3 girls about 1 week ago. They should be around 150 days old.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

3

(3) What breeds do you have?

Actually unsure! I think possibly 1 sussex and 2 reds of some sort.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I have 3 kids and we were looking for a relatively low maintenance pet and of course the eggs. But I think I'm the most excited of the family about our "pets"!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Hiking, traveling (pre-covid), running, yoga....

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband is French and our 3 little boys are trilingual which makes speaking at home pretty fun for guests. We launched a zero waste shop here in Italy a couple years ago which is our passion project!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Googling my million questions as I am scared to mess up back yard chicken ownership!

It seems like a fabulous resource full of information! I see you're in California - my home state! While I do love Italy, I have not been able to get back to California nearly enough and have to say I really miss it. Also, it seems so rare to have backyard chickens here in Italy so it's been a challenge finding everything I need. Baby steps :)

Living in Italy, a zero-waste shop, trilingual boys AND chickens -- what a great intro!

Chickens are, as you know, wonderful pets, and everyone here will be happy to help you in any way we can with your new flock. Don't be scared about "messing up." We're here for you.

Welcome to BYC!
Thanks so much for the sweet reply! :)
