We are having an outbreak of cicadas here in southern New Mexico, I can catch more than my flock can eat! Can chickens OD on them or will they quit when they are full? My girls are 11 and 8 weeks old now. I am trying to keep the cicadas off a couple of favorite trees, a loosing battle, the tree bark is weeping all over from the egg laying. Thankfully they are a seven year type. I hear the east coast is due for an outbreak this year as well. I put a few dozen in the refrigerator for later but does anyone have any experience in saving them for winter by freezing them?

Hmmmmm, I would think that by freezing them....they would make a great high protien snack later in the winter, when there are not so many bugs for them to get to! Good luck with those nasty buggers.....UGH! I cant stand them!
