Hello fellow chicken lubbers! I'm a new mamma hen and am raising 31 chicks aged 3-6 weeks. I'm curious why my Cinnamon Queen's coloring is so different than anything I've seen online. Guessing she's mixed with a lace winged Wyandotte instead of a white Rhode Island, but still she's got very dark wings. Btw, isn't she lovely?? The very friendliest of my flock.

There are two different types of Cinnamon Queens. One type is red and white, like typical red sex links. The other type is a Rhode Island red male over silver laced Wyandotte female. That type doesn't have the white but is mostly red with a little black ticking here and there. That is probably what you have, but I'm surprised she has a single comb and not a rose comb if that's the case. But it can happen. It's not uncommon for Wyandottes to have single combs, especially hatchery birds.

Ok, I learned something here. Thanks!

Thanks for this explanation! I have one of the RIR and Wyandotte mix and was beginning to think she was mislabeled because every search has only shown the red and white ones.
